Homalopetalum pumilum

This is a common species ranging from San Luis Potosi through Chiapas on the gulf slope peaks. It may seem very rare, but the plants are many times hidden under the lichen and moss growth on the tree trunks. This is the smallest plant of the three species found in Mexico. It will tend to form masses against the trunks, whereas pachyphyllum will form large hanging clumps and pumilio, the plant about 5 times as large with flowers 25 times as large makes small tufts which hang mostly from twigs.
