Encyclia vitellina




Manuelitas - The common name used in Mexico. This absolutely Weymans' favorite orchid species from Mexico. It is difficult to bloom in much of the United States because it does better with cooler temperatures. It is common along the mountain peaks of Veracruz state, above 6000 ft. elevation. As you can see from the photo's it does well in the oak trees. Other species which accompany it are: Epidendrum longipetalum, Alamania punicea, Encyclia varicosa and Epidendrum radioferens.
