Barkeria lindleyana

This is a rock grower, as opposed to the subspecies vanneriana, which is found on grasses and in brush close to the ground. This species is more common on the western slopes of the central mountain range towards the pacific. Weyman has run into several large populations in the mountains to the west of Sola de Vega. Where it exists, it is plentiful and quite spectacular in full bloom. The flowers are usually darker than its desert growing cousin subspecies vanneriana.
